In 1991 he won the grand prize in close-up card magic from FISM. He might have won it in 1985 too, except his act of seemingly impossible cardplay fooled even the judges.
His interest in magic began with several small tricks and puzzles that his mother showed him. Not knowing any other magicians he began to develop his own methods for card effects. For a period he worked in a mental hospital. The night shift gave him to the time to practice his sleight of hand. Similar work at a prison gave him the opportunity to try out his routines on the inmates. He specialized in impossible locations and ways of bringing shuffled decks back to numerical order. It was a brand of magic that would later make him famous among magicians.
Lennart studied medicine and became a doctor but in 1992, following his FISM win, he gave it up and became a professional magician. His performances are in demand all over the world, from high society functions at private clubs to the TED conference the video of which brought Lennart to a whole new audience.
